Everyone compliments me on my roasts and they’re the easiest, simplest thing to make!

What you need:

  • Whole chicken
  • Cooking oil
  • Salt
  • Maris piper potatoes
  • Veggies (your choice but I always go for broccoli, onion, carrots, peas)
  • Bisto gravy granules

  • Set oven to about 180 degrees
  • Put the roast chicken in a roasting tin, drizzle oil and add a pinch of salt and pop in the oven (for about 1 hour in total / until done)
  • Peel and chop potatoes, carrots, onion
  • Boil potatoes for about 15 mins until soft
  • Drain potatoes and shake up in the pan so they’re a little fluffy
  • Put potatoes on baking tray, drizzle plenty of oil, add a pinch of salt and put in the oven (for about 40 mins more)
  • At this time, put the chopped carrots / onions / parsnips etc. in with the chicken and add a drizzle more oil if needed
  • When chicken / potatoes are 10 mins away from being done, boil water and put the boil-able veggies on
  • Take chicken out, and serve up with veggies
  • Tip chicken juice in a pan and add bisto granules (and a little more water if you need) to make the gravy
  • Enjoy!
